History and development
The game was given the codename “Project Bolan” during production, in honor of T. Rex’s lead singer Marc Bolan from the 1970s. The game came out in September 2014, but it didn’t do well on older computers. In December 2014, the game’s code was rewritten and re-released. The game’s fourth birthday was celebrated with themed decorations four years later.
For Google Chrome’s tenth birthday, an Easter egg was added to the game: a birthday cake could appear in the desert in September 2018. The dinosaur would wear a birthday hat if it was eaten.
