For example, a Java programme can run on any operating system.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mostly_Interpreted_vs_Compiled\"><\/span><strong>(Mostly) Interpreted vs Compiled<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While programming languages are compiled, scripting languages are primarily interpreted \u2014 however, some scripting languages, such as Python and Groovy, are both compiled and interpreted.<\/p>\n<p>A compiled programming language has its own compiler, which transforms the syntax into machine code before it is executed.
